VT stands for Version Thirteen, and the name is the point: this is the thirteenth generation of Ozone's best-known kite. Five struts, relentless upwind drive, high speed and the hangtime people have been buying the Edge for over a decade.
What changed is that the thirteenth version borrowed the Vortex's character. A new planform with a refined arc, retuned sail tensions — particularly along the trailing edge, giving a tighter, cleaner canopy — a slimmer leading edge for less drag, and the Vortex's 16-point bridle. Together they make the kite noticeably sharper through a turn and far more intuitive in a loop. Kite loops on an Edge used to take commitment; now they simply happen.
Materials are matched to size, which is a sensible piece of engineering. The 6–9 m sizes use tough Teijin Triple Ripstop dacron in the leading edge and struts, because those sizes fly in strong wind where durability matters most. The 10–13 m sizes are hybrid: the same dacron leading edge with lighter 125 g struts. The 15 and 18 m run a full 125 g airframe, because in light wind every gram works against you.
The canopy is 55 g Teijin Technoforce triple ripstop. Heavier than the double ripstop cloth on the Ultra-X version, but tougher — a deliberate trade of weight for lifespan.
A 12 m has been added to the range, and a single new 18 m replaces the old 17 and 19 m. The Edge VT is for riders who go fast, point high upwind and want to spend as much time in the air as possible.
