Tết 2027 in Mui Ne: kitesurfing over Vietnamese New Year
Tết is Vietnam's biggest holiday, and it falls right in the middle of the monsoon. The K1 school on Sandunes beach is open throughout the holiday: kite and surf lessons, rental and gear storage. Here's what to know about dates, where to stay and getting here.

February is peak monsoon
North-east wind almost every day, 12–18 m/s (about 23–35 knots), building towards midday. Mornings are lighter — that's when first lessons happen.

How many days to plan: in a week most students reach their first independent rides on a kite, in two weeks confident IKO-standard riding. Keep a couple of spare days for a calm spell.
Mui Ne or Phan Rang?
The K1 station and school are in Mui Ne. For riders who are already independent we run kite trips to Phan Rang and Phu Quy island, private or in a group. We price the trip for your dates — just write "Phan Rang" in your request.

Lunar New Year falls on 6 February 2027, with Giao Thừa on the night of 5 to 6 February. The official public holiday in Vietnam runs from 4 to 10 February inclusive, as approved by the government on 2 October 2026.

How many days do I need for a kitesurfing course?▾
In a week most students reach their first independent rides; in two weeks, confident riding to the IKO standard. If you only have 4–5 days, start with the Discovery course or the 8+1 hour course.
