The Edge VT Ultra-X is the same thirteenth-generation Edge, built from lighter Ultra-X materials. The platform is shared: five struts, the new planform with its refined arc, the slimmer leading edge, the Vortex-derived 16-point bridle. The difference is the cloth.
The canopy here is a lighter double ripstop rather than the 55 g Teijin Technoforce triple ripstop of the standard Edge VT. Less weight means faster response, better behaviour in marginal wind and more willingness to hang at the peak of a jump. The price is durability: triple ripstop is tougher and far more forgiving of careless handling.
Choosing between the two comes down to an honest question about yourself. If you ride often, drop the kite on sand and aren't always careful on the launch, take the standard Edge VT — it will outlive the lighter one. If you chase height, hangtime and upwind performance, and you look after your gear, the Ultra-X gives you measurably more.
Everything else is identical: same character, same upwind drive, same predictability through a loop. This isn't a different kite — it's the same kite in a lighter build.
