Ozone Explore V3 Kite

The Explore V3 is the snowkite Ozone builds for the widest range of riders — first-time snowkiters and seasoned backcountry adventurers alike. The reason is its single-surface design: it generates plenty of lift at low airspeed, so handling is easy and forgiving, yet there is enough power to climb steep slopes. Depower through the bar is instant and efficient.

What changed in V3. The cell count, planform and aspect ratio stay the same as the V2. The improvements are in the details. Full-length battens reduce drag, so the kite goes upwind better in stronger wind. The bridle has fewer tabs and lines, with key tabs repositioned, which gives more stability, smoother power and a better bar feel. A more accurate arc improves canopy tension and overall control.

Without double-skin ribs, the load is carried by span-wise bridge lines under the canopy that spread the bridle forces evenly. The leading edge has light plastic battens, the bridles are sheathed Dyneema, and a lightweight double-pulley speed system keeps depower smooth. The wingtips open with Velcro so you can empty out snow and debris, and colour-coded connectors stop you rigging the lines wrong.

Who it is not for. A single-skin kite trades some speed and upwind performance for ease. Expert riders chasing distance and expeditions will want the double-surface EXP. The Explore is a snow kite: it is not built for water. Ozone also reminds every snowkiter that its kites and harnesses are not for flying or soaring — keep your skis on the snow.
