Why the Murmansk region
If you already ski or snowboard, you are halfway there — what's left is learning to fly the kite.
In the early part of the season we ride and teach in Kirovsk, about 200 km from Murmansk; later we move to Murmansk itself, where the tundra kite tour runs. You don't have to come for weeks — a weekend timed to the forecast works too.
What makes it work
Steady wind
Even, moderate wind — the most important condition for a good session.
Huge snowfields
Endless snow-covered spaces the size of dozens of football pitches, covered in soft powder.
Easy to reach
About 3 hours by plane from Moscow to Murmansk or Apatity.
Everything on site
Transfers to the spots, warm rooms and plenty of fresh kite gear for everyone.
What to bring
- Riding clothes — ideally a one-piece suit: snow and wind get under a jacket
- Several sets of thermal underwear — you will sweat despite the frost
- Warm boots and several pairs of gloves
- A board and helmet if you have them; if not, we provide everything
- Sports insurance that covers kiting
- A flight to Murmansk or Apatity
