Description
Speed is the whole point of the Flux V3. Ozone took what they learned building the Fusion V3 double-skin race wing and put it into a single-skin wing with a Teijin Triple Ripstop Dacron frame — race-like pace without the race-wing price or fragility. It sits above the Flow V2 and is aimed at intermediate and advanced riders.
The big change from the Flux V2 is the rigid carbon boom. Its base plate is stitched into the strut, so there is no play in either direction, and the longer booms on the bigger sizes use a higher grade of carbon to feel as stiff as the 3 m. A moulded EVA bumper at the front protects your board during water starts and gives a natural pistol grip.
The centre profile now keeps a steady pull on the front hand, so the wing drives forward at speed and doesn't stall through tacks and gybes. Thinner tips widen the range: easier pumping in light air, less drag when it gusts. Sizes run 3, 3.6, 4.3, 5 and 5.7 m², weighing 2.14 to 3.2 kg, with a flat aspect ratio of 2.9. One of Ozone's testers held 31 knots on a 600 cm² freeride foil on a gusty day.
Not the one for a first wing — that's the Fly or the Flow V2. And if you ride a big, slow, high-lift foil in a relaxed style, the Flux V3's lock-and-load character will be wasted: it is built for fast foils and plenty of power.
