Core Sensor 4 Control bar

The Sensor 4 is the previous generation of CORE's bar and it is still in the range for a simple reason: on safety it gives away nothing to the newer 4S.

The same universal SFS+ safety. The kite flags out completely on a single front line with no residual pull, and the system works with fixed and pulley bridles alike. The CIC quick release is ISO 21853:2020 certified: the standard specifies release force not only dry but under sand, load and freezing conditions.

Titanium core in the shaft. This is the main difference from the 4S. The titanium carrier delivers stiffness and significantly raises breaking load, while allowing the double line channel through the centre with replaceable inserts. The 4S dropped titanium — carbon proved stiff enough on its own — but that takes nothing away from the Sensor 4's strength.

24 m Vario lines — the underrated feature. A base length of 18 m plus 2 m and 4 m extensions. One bar therefore gives four lengths: 18, 20, 22 and 24 m, and switching takes a couple of minutes. Short lines mean sharper steering and faster loops; long lines mean more height and more pull. It is effectively four bars in one.

Universal pigtails. The lines are easy to shorten and the bar connects to many kites from other brands. If your quiver is mixed, that is a rare and useful property.

High or low V. Switchable in seconds. All CORE kites are optimised for the high V; the low V makes sense for radical riding on short lines from 12 m and for other brands' kites.

Usability. The 4:1 adjuster quarters trimming force. Front lines untwist themselves on a ceramic bearing. Width changes with a finger between 50 and 46.5 cm. The folding Stealth winders have a flight mode and a storage mode.

Who it is not for. Anyone who wants the newest platform with the carbon shaft, insert changes without dismantling and the Flextrim clip — that is the Sensor 4S. For everything else the Sensor 4 settles the question.
