The Alpha V3 Ultra-X is built for riders who travel with their gear. The third generation moves to 125 g dacron on the leading edge and strut with a lighter canopy cloth, making it lighter than the kite it replaces while performing better.
A single strut buys low weight and a small pack, but on the Alpha it costs surprisingly little in the air. Low-end and mid-range drive are strong, the turn is quick and pivotal, and the kite stays stable at the edge of the window even with slack lines — an unusual trait for a single-strut design and exactly what saves you in gusty conditions.
Handling is light and steering response is smooth. There is lively lift overhead for jumping, but this is not a big air weapon and it isn't trying to be. Balanced drift and strong drive up through the window make it an excellent choice for marginal wave riding and foiling, where keeping the kite parked above you matters more than raw hangtime.
Best suited to intermediate and advanced riders who fly with luggage, ride a wide wind range and would rather carry one kite than two. Factory build time is around 27 days.
