Machado explains it himself. He loves the Go Fish for its speed and its skatey, loose feel, but after a couple of years on it he wanted more — more carves, tighter turns. The Seaside is that refinement: less area in the tail, narrowed swallow tips, more curve in the outline, a narrower nose. All of it for ripping, while the Go Fish stays cruisey and fun.
One deliberate detail: the Seaside is quad only. Rob's logic — if he was going to make a quad, he'd make one that's strictly a quad and design the concaves and bottom contours around that. He redesigned his entire concave setup for it.
In practice that means there's no twin option: the board is built around one configuration.
Who it isn't for. Anyone wanting keels and a retro feel: the Seaside doesn't take them. For relaxed surfing without ambition, take the Go Fish. And in powerful barrels this is still a fish, not a shortboard.
