Description
The Spaceship is Slater's second collaboration with Mike Woo after the Great White Twin. Where that one took its outline from a great white shark, this brief was the opposite: a more conventional outline built for hold in tubes, turns on rail and hold in round wave faces, from Canggu to Coolangatta.
It was unveiled in March 2024 during Slater's historic sessions at Kirra — this is what he rode there.
The maker calls it Kelly's favourite shape for good waves, especially reef passes, point breaks and perfect beach breaks. Behind the shape are decades of R&D by Woo.
Who it isn't for. The exact opposite of a groveller: there's nothing for it in small, weak surf. And not for beginners — a good-wave board assumes you can use one.
