Jensen is known for high-performance longboarding, but he's also an accomplished noserider and wanted his Firewire models to include a design suited to traditional surfing. Mann took it on gladly: he's always enjoyed the stylish nature of the old school, particularly riding an original Phil Edwards board his father owns.

What came out of a great deal of back and forth. The rails are soft 50/50 — symmetrically rounded above and below, as on classic longboards: an edge like that doesn't cut the water so much as get wrapped by it, hence the smoothness. A scoop nose concave and extra tail flip work as a pair to hold the board when you walk forward. The nose entry rocker, by contrast, was relaxed to enhance tip riding and give maximum glide and trim.

Who it isn't for. Sharp turns and vertical surfing want the TJ Pro — the geometry here is the exact opposite. And a traditional noserider has no business in powerful surf.
