The original Sci-Fi has held its place for years, and Thomson explains why: functionality. It's an exceptionally easy board to ride, he says, giving an effortless sense of control and performance you wouldn't get in a traditional shortboard.
The Sci-Fi 2.0 captures the essence of Thomson's Modern Planing Hull innovations over the prior decade. The range runs wide in both directions: it handles and holds in significantly sized waves up to double overhead while still grovelling with easy speed on flat faces under waist high.
I-Bolic is the Slater Designs I-beam core technology.
Who it isn't for. Beginners: an MPH wants different foot placement than a classic shortboard, and habits transfer poorly. Pure noseriding and glide have the longboards in the range.
