Description
The Neutrino continues the line of the Nano — one of Thomson's original Modern Planing Hull designs, drawn back in 2008/2009. From it the Neutrino inherits the wide chop tail.
A chop tail is one of the lowest-drag tail designs it's possible to make. Water releases symmetrically and simultaneously across the whole chop angle instead of dragging behind the board. Hence low drag, high speed and, crucially, the ability to generate speed when the wave energy is low.
The Quad-In-Single-Concave arrangement gives lift and a genuinely free, unstuck feel.
Who it isn't for. In powerful surf a wide tail turns twitchy — that wants a narrower back end. And Tomo shapes are awkward for beginners: an MPH needs different foot placement than a classic shortboard.
