Description
Foil kites need one thing an inflatable doesn't: a way to stall the kite on purpose. The Foil Contact Water V5 is Ozone's Contact bar with a removable brake handle added for exactly that.
The brake handle. Grabbing the brake lets you inflate the kite on the water, land it on your own and do a reverse relaunch. Ozone's advice is clear: always use the brake handle when you fly a foil kite. Because it is removable, the same bar can still be used with inflatables.
Everything else is Contact. The push-away Click-In Loop quick release reloads with a single click and is AFNOR NF S52-503 certified; the leash goes on the flag-out eyelet of the stainless swivel ring; the spinning head lets you untwist the front lines. Flying lines are colour-coded bio-based Dyneema, 500 kg front and 300 kg back, spliced in Ozone's factory with modular extensions. You get the ergonomic EVA grip, CNC aluminium centre piece, PU-covered depower line, stainless leader-line pin and soft, adjustable bar ends, and the loop comes in three sizes.
Who needs it. Anyone flying a Hyperlink, Mach1 or another Ozone foil kite on water for freeride or foiling. If you race foil kites, the Foil Race V5 adds a double-pulley trim that you can use while hiked out. The bar on our card is 38cm with 25m lines.
