Description
The fourth AURA drops soft handles entirely — the wing ships boom-only. Designer Bill Hansen is blunt about why: less weight, cleaner handling. A carbon boom is included, and the Click-Boom system means one boom covers every size from 3.5 to 5.5 m² instead of one per wing.
The leading edge is 4% smaller in diameter and built from a mix of ALUULA FX86, Challenge DKC 160 dacron and Teijin — stiffness from one material, abrasion life from another. The middle strut is slimmer too and reshaped around the boom-only layout. The canopy combines Teijin 5x5 and 2x2 ripstop with Dimension-Polyant T835 X-Ply windows on a lower-drag profile.
Eleven sizes: 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0, 5.5 and 6.0 m², plus 6.5 and 7.5 LW light-wind sizes. Weight with boom and without leash runs from 1.50 kg to 2.69 kg. Projected aspect ratio stays at 2.42 and flat at 2.50 across the whole range, so changing size changes the power, not the character.
Who it isn't for. Riders committed to soft handles — the V4 gives no choice. If you want the stiffest, lightest frame regardless of price, that's the AURA X V3 in full ALUULA. And if the goal is course racing, look at the X-Race: the AURA is aimed at wave, freefly and freeride.
