UPF 50+ is a measured figure, not a marketing one: the fabric passes less than one fiftieth of the UV through. For a child spending hours on the water it's more reliable than sunscreen, which washes off and never gets reapplied on schedule.

The cut is a relaxed t-shirt fit rather than compression. With kids that matters more than it sounds — a tight rash vest often gets refused, while this reads as ordinary clothing.

The seams are flat locked. On a long sleeve that's the critical bit: the inner seam runs through the armpit and down the inside of the arm, exactly where the body rubs the board while paddling.

Who it isn't for. A relaxed cut fits worse under a wetsuit than a compression one. It adds no warmth — cool water needs the fleece-lined Thermo. And in real heat a short sleeve is more comfortable.
