Description
UPF 50+ is a measured figure: the fabric passes less than one fiftieth of the UV. For a child spending hours in the water it beats sunscreen, which washes off and stops getting reapplied some time after lunch.
Long sleeves cover the forearms — under the sun the whole time on a board, and the last place anyone remembers to cream. Seams are flat locked; on a long sleeve the seam runs down the inside of the arm, exactly where the body rubs the board while paddling.
Nylon and elastane: stretches both ways, dries almost instantly.
Who it isn't for. No warmth — this is sun and chafe protection, not insulation; cool water calls for a fleece thermo. In real heat a short sleeve is easier. And a compression fit sits better under a wetsuit.
