F-One TRIGGER BRAINCHILD Kite

The TRIGGER Brainchild is F-One's Big Air kite for riders who want height and hangtime without a kite that fights them. Designed by Ralf Grösel and developed at the Brainchild factory, the new version promises higher jumps, longer hangtime, lighter steering pressure and more comfort and control across the wind range.

The canopy. It uses a softer material first introduced on the BANDIT Brainchild. F-One says this makes the kite more forgiving and gives a much better second lift: you float longer at the top of the jump and come down more progressively, so landings are noticeably smoother. A redesigned bridle geometry adds control and precision.

Sizes and wind. F-One publishes the range like this: 5m 36+ knots, 6m 32+, 7m 29+, 8m 24+, 9m 19–35, 10m 16–30, 11m 14–23, 12m 12–21. Weights run from 2.06 kg (5m) to 3.30 kg (12m) for the kite alone. Sizes up to 10m fly on a 45 cm bar; 11m and 12m on 52 cm.

Who it is not for. It is a jumping kite. Wave riders who want drift and a kite that disappears in the surf will be happier with the ADDIKT. If you are still learning to edge and stay upwind, the BANDIT or the TRIGGER TEC are easier, more affordable steps.

Brainchild or TEC? The TRIGGER TEC shares the same DNA in a five-strut frame with DLE 140 material, a little softer and more accessible.
