Description
The HYBRID is built in an unusual way: half the canopy is conventional closed-cell foil, half is ultra-light single skin. Hence the name. The point is to take the best of each — the stability and clean aerodynamics of a closed cell, the low weight and efficient depower of a single skin.
On the water that means a kite which launches easily, holds steady in turbulent air and drifts exceptionally well — it follows you down the line instead of pulling you off it. For foiling and waves, drift is the thing that decides everything.
It parks at the edge of the window and stays there. At 3 or 9 o'clock the kite sits stable without constant bar input. A beginner can think about the board instead of the kite; a foiler gets hands-free drift; in waves you get predictability while you are busy with the wave.
Two ways to relaunch. Reverse launch for light wind, one-line relaunch when powered. The kite comes off the water in any conditions, not only the ones it was designed around — which is rare for anything with single-skin DNA: the pure PEAK has almost no water relaunch at all.
T-Frame construction reduces flapping, improves drainage, and puts a deflation valve in the air intake so the kite packs down fast — worth a lot on a boat. Safety is the Cross Line Safety system, flagging the kite onto a single front line; with the reduced wingspan the residual pull is minimal.
Who it is not for. Anyone chasing jump height — Flysurfer build the SONIC and the ERA for that. The HYBRID is about accessibility and calm, not records. Aspect ratio is a deliberately low 3.1 across the whole range.
Picking a size. Six sizes: 3, 4.5, 6, 8, 10 and 12. Weight runs from 560 g on the 3 to 1.56 kg on the 12, so two sizes fit in ordinary luggage. Lines are 21 m on the CONNECT³ bar, 20-23 m on FUSION and FORCE.
