Flysurfer HELI Kite

The HELI is a three-strut tube kite that Flysurfer describe as the easiest in the range to jump with. It is rated beginner to advanced, and that is not marketing breadth: the design is built so one kite carries you from first lifts to confident loops.

The bridle is a five-point system on Ronstan pulleys — that is where the predictable feedback and the easy relaunch come from. Materials are Dacron and Teijin D2, the same mix as the high-end ERA, so nothing was saved on structure.

Relaunch as a feature in its own right. A swept-back outline and reworked bridle geometry make getting off the water almost automatic: one pull on the steering line and the kite glides up, even in light wind. If you are still learning, that is half the enjoyment of a session — crashes stop costing you time.

Tuning the steering. A knot ladder on the back lines changes their length, and with it bar pressure and steering sharpness. Want it softer, lengthen; want it sharper, shorten. Your setting rather than one compromise for everyone.

The Free Flow² system uses a main valve with a bayonet adapter and push-push pin, with struts connected to the leading edge bladder by hoses and clamps. One point inflates and deflates the whole kite.

Who it is not for. Wave riders who live for drift — Flysurfer build the STOKE for that. And anyone past intermediate chasing height records: that is the ERA's job. The HELI is about confident progress, not about the ceiling.

Picking a size. Six sizes: 6, 7, 8, 9, 12 and 15. Aspect ratio climbs gently with size, from 4.8 on the 6 to 5.9 on the 15. Weights: 2.3 kg on the 6, 2.8 on the 8, 3.6 on the 12. Lines are 23 m across the range. FUSION bar: S on the 6 and 7, M on the 8 and 9, L on the 12 and 15.
