Description
Designed for the Machadocado, Rob Machado's most versatile hybrid, though the principle carries further.
The starting point is unusual: Rob began from a more upright performance template rather than a keel. The difference is real — a keel pulls the board along the wave in a long arc, while an upright fin cuts tight and keeps the board controlled, still delivering the drive of a thruster.
The small rear trailer adds what a twin lacks: control in transition. Machado calls them transitional moments — the fractions of a second when the board goes rail to rail. On a pure twin, that's exactly where control is lost.
Rob's formula: the freedom of his favourite fish with the control of his favourite thruster.
Who it isn't for. A classic keel fish wants a different character — take the Twin Keel. And it won't go in a thruster: the box layout is different.
