A set for the Groove and for performance surfing in general — the stiffest-charactered template Machado has drawn.
The construction is the interesting part. A bamboo core with carbon layups placed unevenly: the leading edge is stiffer, the trailing edge has more flex. That's what progressive flex means. A stiff leading edge gives immediate response and drive; a softer trailing edge acts as a spring, returning energy out of a turn rather than absorbing it.
Who it isn't for. On grovellers and fish this is more stiffness than you want — the Velox or Manncave suit better. A newer surfer has nothing to feel the flex difference with, and this set costs more than the baseline. Check your box system before buying.
