Firewire Machado Twin Keel Fin Set Fins

A classic keel pulls the board forward in a straight line and resists release — hence its famous speed and its equally famous limitation: the board runs on rails. Machado wanted to keep the first and lose the second.

The result keeps all the positive sensations of a traditional keel but tones them down so they aren't so trackey and drivey. The tail loosens and livens up when you want it to, not only once the wave is over.

They were drawn with the Too Fish in mind.

Machado tells where it started: the first keels he rode were on a Skip Frye fish around the time they were filming Seedling — hand-foiled Larry Gephart fins referred to as straight backs. They looked, he says, like plywood someone cut out and foiled, and they were beautiful. That's what sparked his imagination.

Single tab variants are compatible with the Futures fin system.

Who it isn't for. If you want an uncompromising classic keel, take a traditional template — the drive here is deliberately reduced. And keels don't go in a thruster.
