Description
The classic performance configuration: wide arch, high kick, diamond tread. Machado puts this one on his thruster when, in his words, he wants to act like a professional surfer.
The geometry, plainly. The arch is the bump under your instep: it tells you where your foot is without looking down. The kick is the back stop: your heel drives into it through a vertical turn, and without one a hit off the lip becomes a slide. Three pieces let you space the elements to your own stance.
Made from BLOOM foam based on algae harvested from waters where blooms damage the ecosystem.
Who it isn't for. A three-piece shortboard pad is narrow on a wide fish tail — that wants the 2+1 Flat. And if you're used to a flat pad, the wide arch will feel intrusive at first.
