Description
A twinzer is a twin with two small canard fins set ahead of the mains. The canards feed organised water onto the main fins, so the twin stops releasing as early as it otherwise would.
Stu Kenson, the renowned San Diegan shaper, is direct about it: this has been his go-to twinzer setup for quite some time. Clean, balanced curves, the right blend of fin base, rake and area, and a front canard sized to work together with the rear fins. No gimmicks, in his words.
The range he cites is telling: he uses it on everything from sub-6'0″ fishes and shortboards to step-ups, midlengths and longboards.
Construction is standard fibreglass — simple and proven. Single tab variants are compatible with the Futures fin system.
Who it isn't for. You need four boxes in a twinzer layout — it won't fit a plain twin or a thruster.
