Description
The Dominator has been in the Firewire line since 2008 — one of those boards that never gets discontinued, only reissued. The second version is meant as a clean update of the original: the same principles, refined for a wider set of conditions.
The obvious change is the tail, now squash rather than round. A round tail holds an arc more evenly and predictably; a squash releases water more sharply and turns tighter. For a board expected to work across conditions, squash is the right call — it adds response without taking away stability.
Who it isn't for. Anyone wanting the sharpest possible board for good waves — that's what the Dominator Pro is. Beginners: the volume and shape assume a confident surfer. And very small, gutless surf has more voluminous shapes waiting.
