What the brand does

Flysurfer is a German company, and it shows in the approach: the range is organised around constructions rather than marketing categories. Each model has clearly drawn territory, and they barely overlap.

The kite range: who does what

PEAK6 — a single-skin foil kite for snow and mountains. Six sizes from 2.5 to 11 m, rated beginner and up, from 639 €. A direct rival to the Ozone Explore.

SOUL3 — a closed-cell all-rounder. Six sizes from 6 to 18 m, beginner through advanced, from 1 756 €. The workhorse of the range.

SONIC5 — a closed-cell race-and-freestyle foil with a big-air claim. Four sizes from 7 to 15 m, intermediate to pro, from 2 325 €.

ERA2 — an ultralight foil kite for travel and light wind.

VMG3 — a racing model built around upwind performance, which is what the name refers to.

HYBRID2, INDIE2, STOKE4, FOX, HELI, SUPERSONIC — the rest of the range, covering freestyle, learning and specialist jobs.

How the German approach differs from Ozone's

A useful comparison, because these are the two main foil-kite manufacturers and the choice usually comes down to them.

Ozone stands in two worlds. Inflatables — Edge, Reo, Vortex, Catalyst — carry the bulk of the brand's sales, with foil kites alongside. Hence an all-rounder like the Hyperlink V4 that converts between water and snow: the logic of someone who already owns an inflatable.

Flysurfer stands on foil kites. Hence the depth of the range: where Ozone has one model, Flysurfer has two or three with different characters. Hence also the size spread: the PEAK6 starts at 2.5 m, a size most brands simply do not offer.

The practical conclusion: if you own one foil kite and it must do everything, look at Ozone. If you are building a quiver of foil kites, Flysurfer gives you more to choose from.

The single-skin PEAK: the brand's main argument

The Peak has done more for the popularity of single-skin kites than any other model. A sixth generation speaks for itself: the line has lasted and kept developing.

A range from 2.5 to 11 m is unusually wide. The 2.5 exists for strong mountain wind, the 11 for calm on flat ground. No single kite covers that spread, but the range covers it entirely.

Can I learn on a Peak from zero?

On snow, yes — it is rated from beginner. On water a single-skin is not a learning kite.

Which Flysurfer should I buy first?

Are Flysurfer foil kites repairable?

Yes, but the work is finer than on an inflatable: ribs, load tapes and many lines of differing lengths. Better sent to a workshop.
