Description

The PYRO is VAYU's parawing: a canopy you stash in your hand in seconds and a wave you ride with nothing held. The single-skin canopy uses 30 gsm paraglider ripstop, which is where the weight — and therefore the whole idea — comes from. It was developed and tested over more than a year in the Columbia River Gorge, Kiel, Fuerteventura and Hawaii.

The bridle runs short centre lines of roughly 1.3–1.5 m, tuned per size: a shorter system kills faster, recovers cleaner, stashes easier and tangles less. The layout is A/B/C/D with separate brake risers. Centre A risers are grouped for a fast kill and pull-in while the outer A's sit apart so the tips can flag and de-load, letting you draw the wing to you under tension. Lines are DSL70 and PPSLS, colour-coded.

The Bridge Bar runs no pulleys and no sliders — each rib group has its own leader, so tension builds smoothly and in sequence as you sheet in. Centre hardware is out of the grip area, so your hands slide anywhere along the bar without hitting a stopper. Bar length scales with canopy: 275 mm at 2.5, 315 at 3.2, 350 at 4.0, 390 at 5.0; lines are 1325, 1370, 1435 and 1435 mm. Wind ranges: 2.5 from 25 knots, 3.2 at 18–28, 4.0 at 15–25, 5.0 at 12–18. Backpack and bar included.

Who it isn't for. Beginners. VAYU aims the PYRO at experienced foilers and wingfoilers, and that isn't marketing caution — a parawing does not hold you up the way a wing does, and it is the wrong tool for learning to foil. It also isn't the choice for gusty wind, where a wing in your hands is far more forgiving; the AURA V4 covers those days. And note the floor: even the 5.0 needs 12 knots.

K1 instructor's take
“We ride this gear ourselves and teach on it. The main thing is picking the size for your weight and wind: bigger in light wind, smaller when it blows. If you're unsure, message us — we'll put together an honest setup, no upselling.”
