Ozone Infinity V4 Kiteboard

The Infinity V4 is Ozone's answer to waiting on the beach for more wind. It is a light-wind twin-tip, but Ozone's goal for V4 was that it should not feel like one — it should ride like your favourite everyday board, just earlier.

Low-end first. The Infinity gets onto the plane with less kite movement, which gives you the freedom to cruise, carve and pop in conditions that would otherwise be dull. Edging comfort was also worked on to put less stress on the ankles, so you keep board speed through the lulls and go upwind more efficiently.

A new hull. Borrowing from the Code, the V4 has a completely re-engineered hull: a refined double concave that blends into tri-spine channels at the tips. It grips and tracks upwind easily but feels smaller and snappier under your feet than earlier versions. Recessed grab rails along the centre of each rail make board-offs and grabs easier.

The flex increases from the centre of the board outwards, for a smooth ride in chop and comfortable landings and carves. Construction: A-grade Paulownia core, biaxial fibreglass and UD carbon, bio-based epoxy (35% plant-derived), polymer resin rail and 316 stainless steel inserts in ABS blocks. Fins are injection-moulded glass-filled nylon in two sizes, with multi-density shock-absorbing footpads and optional Ultralon straps.

Who it is not for. A big light-wind board is the wrong tool for strong wind and steep chop — there a Code V5 or Torque V4 will be more controlled. And if your local wind is often under twin-tip range altogether, a hydrofoil gets you riding in even less.
