Description
The XR X has the XR character on a different material and at a different price. There is no Aluula here: the frame is built on CORE's new ExoTex 3 dacron, and that is the main thing to know when choosing between it and the XR Pro 2.
ExoTex 3 — and why it is not "just dacron". The XR X is the first model in the range to get this material, which CORE spent three years developing. The new weave structure improves torsional stiffness and sharpens steering precision. The maker gives specific figures: 12% less stretch and 20% higher tear strength. Less stretch means more power and more stability in flight, because energy stops disappearing into fabric deformation.
Five ExoTex Light struts. The frame holds its shape under load, so power is there when you ask for it rather than when the kite gets round to it. The light strut material makes the XR X livelier and more responsive.
Intelligent Arc. The same signature solution as on the XR Pro: fully loaded, projected area grows and delivers extra lift at take-off.
Landing and relaunch. The rigid five-strut delta bow frame with precise depower lets you set down softly with simple side-to-side steering. Water relaunch is fast, which matters more for freeriding than it sounds on the beach.
Servicing details. A single valve in the leading edge, with strut hoses and valves 33% larger for double the flow and much faster inflation and deflation. New elastic fixings make servicing simpler.
Who it is not for. Competitors chasing the last few percent of height — that is Aluula and the XR Pro 2. And beginners: it is rated from intermediate.
