Takoon is a French brand with a kiting past that is now almost entirely about foiling. Our catalogue carries 127 items, and the split speaks for itself: two kites against well over a hundred foil components.

The defining trait: modularity taken to the limit

Most brands sell foils as sets and individual parts as spares. Takoon inverts that: the system is assembled from parts, and every part is a product in its own right.

The masts show the scale. The range holds aluminium at 17.5 and 19 mm, carbon HM at 13, 16 and 18 mm, HR at 16 and 18 mm, UHM at 12.5 and 13 mm. Nine masts is not a range, it is a construction kit.

Decoding the labels: HM is high modulus, HR high resistance, UHM ultra high modulus. The higher the modulus, the stiffer the mast at the same section. A stiff mast does not flex under load and transmits your foot input to the wing more precisely, but it costs more and takes impacts worse.

The millimetre figure is the mast's profile thickness. Thinner means less drag and more speed; thicker means stiffer and stronger.

A titanium fuselage — a rarity

One detail worth calling out: Takoon offers fuselages in aluminium, carbon and titanium.

Titanium solves a specific foiling problem: the mast-to-fuselage joint is the most loaded point in the system and the place play develops first. Aluminium wears out over time; carbon dislikes point impacts. Titanium handles both.

It is the mark of a brand doing foils seriously rather than adding them for completeness.

Wings: three generations at once

V3, V4 and VX all live in the catalogue — not a clearance sale but three different characters.

The Cloud parawings — a separate story

A parawing is not a wing. It is a frameless canopy on lines, closer in construction to a foil kite than to an inflatable wing. It packs smaller than a backpack, needs no pump and stows on your belt while you are on the water.

A narrow but growing niche: parawings are bought for downwinders and pump foiling, where the wing is needed only to get going and is in the way afterwards. Takoon is one of the few brands offering four of them at once.

Who Takoon suits
