Ensis Brand Review: The Swiss Who Build the Whole Wingfoil System

Most brands make either wings, or foils, or boards. Ensis makes all of it, under one system — and that changes how you should choose it.

What is in the catalogue

50 Ensis items — one of the fullest presentations of the brand in the Russian-speaking market. By group:

• Wings: SCORE (three versions), DRIVE and DRIVE ALUULA, TOPSPIN and TOPSPIN ACE, DOUBLE ACE.
• Parawings: ROGER and ROGER V3.
• Boards: HIP HOP, JIVE, ROCK'N'ROLL, SAMBA, WALTZ, TWIST — including soft top and inflatable.
• Foils: complete sets — FLOW ACE, INFINITY ACE, PACER, STRIDE and STRIDE ACE.
• Components: MANIAC masts in three materials, fuselages, front wings, stabilisers.

Note the last point: a brand that makes wings does not usually make helmets. Ensis does, and that says something about the approach.

The ACE suffix: what it means

Half the range exists in two versions, standard and ACE. Understanding this matters more than the model names.

ACE is the premium construction: more expensive materials, lower weight, higher stiffness. It works the same way across wings, boards and foils.

The numbers show the scale. The SCORE BOOM starts at 972 €, the SCORE ACE at 1 892 €. Nearly double, for the same model.

The practical conclusion: ACE is for people who ride a lot and have started running into equipment weight. For the first two seasons the standard version covers the same jobs.

Three SCORE versions — a rare and useful move

The SCORE comes in three builds, and they differ not in performance but in how you hold the wing.

• SCORE BOOM — with a rigid boom. From 972 €, seven sizes from 2.8 to 6.6 m².
• SCORE HANDLE — with soft handles. From 1 048 €, the same seven sizes.
• SCORE ACE — premium construction, six sizes from 3.5 to 6.6 m².

Few brands offer that choice. Usually the manufacturer decides for you, and the boom-versus-handles question is one of the main forks in wingfoiling. We cover it separately.

ALUULA: what the second price buys

The DRIVE starts at 1 621 €, the DRIVE ALUULA at 2 974 €. Almost double, and the difference is material.

ALUULA is a composite delivering the same strength at markedly lower weight. On a wing, weight matters more than on a kite: you hold the wing in your hands for the whole session, and every two hundred grams reaches your shoulders within an hour.

Honestly: the difference is real, but the second price is not for everyone. At twenty days a year the standard DRIVE gives you the same feeling for half the money.

Complete foil sets — the range's main convenience

A foil is assembled from four independent parts: mast, fuselage, front wing, stabiliser. Each is sold separately, and beginners drown in it.

Ensis offers complete sets — FLOW ACE, INFINITY ACE, PACER, STRIDE, STRIDE ACE. The parts are matched by the manufacturer for a specific job, and you do not need to understand compatibility.

Components are still available individually, so a set can be developed by swapping the front wing as you progress rather than buying a second complete foil. That is the right logic, and not every brand follows it.

Who Ensis suits

Anyone entering wingfoiling from zero. Complete sets and three SCORE versions remove the hardest questions.

Anyone who wants one system. Wing, board, foil and mast from one brand are guaranteed to fit together.

Anyone progressing. Standard and ACE versions give a clear upgrade path without changing systems.

Who it does not suit

Kiters. Ensis makes no kites at all — the brand is wing and foil.

Anyone who has already assembled a foil from another brand's components. Mast and fuselage compatibility between manufacturers is a headache of its own.

Common questions

What does ACE mean?

The premium construction: better materials, lower weight, higher stiffness. It works the same across wings, boards and foils.

Boom or handles?

A boom gives a precise, freely chosen grip point; handles are lighter and simpler. Covered separately.

A complete foil set or components?

A set, at the start. Compatibility between brands and ranges is not guaranteed, and mistakes are expensive.

Is ALUULA worth the premium?

If you ride a lot and wing weight bothers you, yes. For occasional sessions it does not pay back.

Does Ensis make equipment for children?

The range includes the BALZ JUNIOR helmet and small wing sizes from 2.8 m² that suit light riders.
