Swim goggles are the minimum for the water: they don't drag like a mask and don't get in the way of breathing through your mouth on a long swim.
The Wide Vision version gives a broader field — more useful in open water than in a pool, where you need to see what's happening beside you.
Who it isn't for. Your nose is exposed, so you can't equalise and can't dive deep. They're poor for surfing too — waves pull them off. And in salt water goggles leak more readily than in a pool.
