The STAGE² is a light-wind board. One size, 159 x 45 cm, and every part of its geometry serves one job: getting planing where everyone else is still standing on the beach.

Area and a straight heelside edge. Plenty of surface means early planing. The straight heel edge gives a long working line to edge against — which is upwind performance in light air, when every metre of height counts.

Asymmetric fins — the clever part. They are aligned along the heelside edge and set asymmetrically towards the tip. The effect is that both SOLID 55 mm fins stay in the water at all times, even when the board is ridden flat. Hence effortless upwind and smooth glide. Want it livelier and more playful? The maker explicitly suggests swapping the middle fins for SOLID 45 mm.

Double concave bottom. Adds stiffness through the centre, channels water out through the tips — that is pop — and cushions hard landings. It also takes weight out.

Rounded toeside edge. Short and rounded, for comfort and manoeuvrability on toe side and a distinctive feel through a carve.

Paulownia core, UV coating. The graphics sit under the coating, so light scratches do not ruin them. Made in the EU.

Who it is not for. Strong-wind riders: 159 cm in a blow is a lot of board and it will not feel calm — that is what the SHOT or RADICAL⁸ are for. And the weight, 3.80 kg, the heaviest in the range. In light wind that is irrelevant; in strong wind it is not.

Who it is for. A beginner who needs early planing and predictability. And an experienced rider, as the second board for windless days — of which the Mui Ne shoulder season has plenty.
