The Comp is a competition down-the-line board. The high rocker lets you edge into the steepest part of a wave without pearling. The narrow nose and tail open up its full turning ability and top-to-bottom riding.

Airush kite-surf boards differ in construction rather than finish, and the difference is real. Reflex Carbon is the lightest and stiffest, with maximum feedback. Reflex Glass is heavier but tougher and cheaper. Reflex Wood is a wood sandwich with progressive flex — softer over chop, but it gives back less.

Here it's Reflex Carbon — the combination of low weight and maximum durability the maker rates highest in the range.

Who it isn't for. In light wind and small surf the high rocker works against you: the board drags and won't accelerate. Wrong for beginners too — a narrow tail releases more readily. For strapless freestyle take the Cypher with its flatter rocker.
