Description
The Apex is Airush's all-round twin-tip for freeride and big air. The geometry is shared across the range: double concave with a pronounced centre spine. The concave softens landings, the spine holds an edge on flat water — so the board both forgives a hard touchdown and doesn't let go when you load the edge before a jump.
The Eco differs in material: a Biotech Eco hybrid laminate of flax fibre and basalt, bonded with bio-based epoxy. The flax isn't environmentalism for its own sake — natural fibre damps vibration better than glass, so the board runs smoother over chop. The maker calls the Apex Eco a chop-master outright.
The top sheet is high-gloss and hard-wearing; the laminate is a uni-directional basalt hybrid.
Who it isn't for. Anyone chasing maximum pop: flax damps not only vibration but part of the rebound — explosive jumping is the carbon Team's job. On flat water the Eco's advantage doesn't show. And size, as always, by weight and wind.
