Flysurfer Mojo review: a stiff, balanced wing for surf and everyday riding

The Flysurfer Mojo is a wing built around one idea: maximise time in the air and on the wave rather than time fighting the wing. It is aimed at surf and everyday freeride riding, and covers a wide range — 2.8, 3.5, 4.5, 5.2, 6.2 and 7.0 m² — from beginner to advanced.

Stiffness, and why it matters

A wing's rigidity determines how directly it responds. A soft wing deforms under load, which shows up as delay and as power that arrives late.

The Mojo uses two separate inflation valves — one for the strut, one for the leading edge. Because the chambers are independent, each can be tuned to its own pressure and diameter, so the profile holds its shape under load rather than flexing. There is also no connecting hose between the chambers, which removes a component that can be snagged or torn mid-session and end your day.

A centre of pressure that stays put

The Mojo's outline places the centre of lift further forward and, more importantly, keeps it from wandering as conditions change. Pressure distribution stays even whether you shift your hand position or change the angle of attack.

What this means on the water: the wing does not surprise you. When you depower it to ride a wave, it stays neutral above you rather than pulling in one direction — which is exactly what you want when your attention is on the swell rather than on your hands.

Who it suits

Beginners: yes, in the larger sizes. Predictability and neutral handling are worth more to a learner than raw performance.

Wave riders: this is the design brief. A wing that hangs quietly overhead while you surf is the whole point.

Freeriders: a good all-rounder, particularly if you value directness over top-end speed.

Choosing a size

A rough starting point for a 75 kg rider: 5.2 m² as a first wing covering 15–22 knots, 4.5 m² for stronger wind, 6.2 or 7.0 m² for light days. Lighter riders shift one size down, heavier one up.

Most people end up owning two sizes about 1.5 m² apart, which covers nearly everything.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Mojo a good first wing?

Yes, in a size appropriate to your weight. Its predictability is a beginner asset, not a compromise.

Why two valves instead of one hose?

Independent chambers can be tuned separately and hold their shape better under load, and there is no hose to snag or fail. The cost is a few extra seconds pumping.

How many wings do I actually need?

One to learn, two to ride most days. A pair roughly 1.5 m² apart covers a normal wind range.

Wing or kite for a beginner?

A wing needs less space and less wind and has nothing above your head. The foil under the board is the hard part in either case — see our wingfoil lessons.

We are a Flysurfer dealer — the range is in the catalogue, and wing-and-foil rental in Mui Ne is 20 € per hour. Unsure about sizing? Ask us with your weight and typical wind.
