Where the brand came from, and why it shows

Starboard began in windsurfing, and the shape of the range gives it away.

Windsurfing remains the largest category — 74 items against 41 for both SUP types combined. For a brand known as "the SUP one", that is unexpected.

Hence a peculiarity: the range holds plenty that pure SUP brands do not carry at all. Sails, masts, booms, a dozen fin types for specific disciplines.

The practical upshot: if you do one discipline, breadth does not matter. If you do two or three, it saves time: compatibility within the brand is guaranteed and inserts are standard.

A curious feature: Starboard makes inflatable foil boards — Air Foil, Take Off Air, Ace Air. In a discipline where everything is normally hard and carbon, that is an unusual move.

Plus hard Ace Foil and X-15 models and the iQFoil and GO-Fly windfoil boards.

What the brand does unusually

An environmental line inside the naming. Some fins and leashes carry Net Positive in their names, one leash carries YULEX. Those are materials: recycled content and plant-based rubber instead of neoprene.

Honestly about it: sustainability is a marketing argument, but at Starboard it is backed by an actual product line rather than website copy alone. Such items cost the same or less than standard ones: the YULEX leash at 18 € is the brand's cheapest item.

Plenty of kids' and family models. SUPKids, Junior, Junior Racer, Tandem, Waterman Package Kids. Not every brand keeps that branch.

Who it suits

Anyone serious about SUP. Forty-one boards cover everything from learning to racing.
