Custom Harlem kites: your own design on a production kite, and how to order one

You choose a standard kite by its characteristics. You choose a custom kite because it is yours — your colours, your logo, your lettering on the canopy, or a full corporate identity for a school or a brand.

The Dutch brand Harlem Kitesurfing is one of the few manufacturers that offers this openly, through its Game Changer programme. Here is how it works, what it costs and how to order from anywhere in the world through us.

What a custom Harlem kite is

It is a production model with your artwork on it. You are not designing a kite from scratch: the proven construction stays exactly as it is — same materials, same flying characteristics, same factory quality — and only the canopy livery changes.

Customisation is available across the Game Changer range and works both for individual riders who want a one-off and for schools, shops and brands that want their identity on the water.

Two options

Option 1 — 100% your design

Complete freedom over colours, graphics and logos across the whole canopy. The only mandatory elements are Harlem's own: the HARLEM logo on the leading edge and the size and logo lock-up on each side.

This is the choice for a genuinely unique kite, or for putting your own brand on the canopy.

Option 2 — 40% custom

The affordable route: 40% of the design is yours, 60% remains Harlem's standard livery, plus the HARLEM logo and lock-up on the branded side. A good way to add your colours and branding without a full custom budget.

What it costs

The customisation fee is calculated per project — it depends on the option, the model and the number of sizes, and is added to the price of the kite itself. A branded kite bag is included in the custom.

The more sizes you order with one design, the better the economics, because a single approved artwork is applied across all sizes of the model. We quote each project individually.

Design help

Artwork itself is not included in the customisation fee. You can prepare the design yourself — Harlem provides PSD templates and an online configurator — or commission Harlem's designers for a separate fee. One approved design then transfers to every size of the chosen model.

How the order runs

1. Model and sizes. We choose the Game Changer model and sizes for your weight, wind and riding style.
2. Option and artwork. You pick Option 1 or Option 2 and prepare the design, alone or with Harlem's designers.
3. Approval. The final artwork is agreed with the mandatory Harlem elements in place. Once approved, the design is locked.
4. Production and delivery. The kite is built to order and shipped with its custom bag.

Frequently asked questions

Does customisation change how the kite flies?

No. Construction, materials and profile are the production ones. Only the printed livery differs.

Can I order a single kite, or is there a minimum?

A single kite is possible. Ordering several sizes with the same artwork lowers the cost per kite, which is why schools usually order a set.

How long does it take?

Production starts after the artwork is approved and payment is made; build and shipping typically take a few weeks depending on factory load, plus delivery time to you.

Can a school put its logo on the kites?

That is exactly what Option 1 exists for — and a branded kite is advertising visible from every point on the beach.
