Description
The Gen R is Starboard's new-generation race board, built for a different job than the All Star.
The key difference is the nose: it doesn't catch the water the way a classic race outline does, which pays off in short sharp accelerations — sprints and technical courses. Crossbow turns come easier thanks to the flatter nose.
Straight-line stability is good and step-back turns are easy, but secondary stability is lower than the All Star's: in big swell the board asks for more attention.
Simple rule: flat water and sprints — Gen R. Ocean and swell — All Star.
