Nobile G10 Fins

G10 is glass-fibre laminate pressed with epoxy. For a fin it's the right material: stiff, it doesn't absorb water and doesn't chip on sand the way moulded plastic does.

Choosing the height. A fin stops the board sliding sideways, so the taller it is, the more grip — and the harder it is to break the tail loose in a turn. Twenty millimetres is for freestyle riders who want a loose tail and make up grip with the rail. Forty is the freeride standard. Fifty-five is for light wind and bigger boards where going upwind matters. Thirty sits in between.

One caveat: Nobile boards run Double Trust rectangular channels that hold line by themselves. With those the maker recommends shorter fins than a flat bottom would need — don't size up 'just in case'.

Who it isn't for. Check the mounting pattern before fitting them to another brand's board. And they don't go on a wave board — that uses a different system.
