A leash is the only thing connecting you to your board after a wipeout. Its length is a safety question, not a comfort one: too short and the board snaps back at your head coming out of a wave; too long and it gets a run-up before it reaches you. The rule is simple — match the leash to your board length or go slightly longer.

The moulded build is the workhorse: same job, simpler execution. The sensible choice for rentals, a second board, or anyone who wants a leash that works rather than a leash that wins tests.

A coiled leash is the flatwater answer. A straight cord on a SUP trails behind and catches on everything — rocks, weed, your own feet. A coil stays on the deck and only extends under load.
