Description
This is a fundamentally different poncho: not a towel but a waterproof shell. Terry soaks up water and becomes a cold compress in wind; a waterproof poncho does the opposite — it blocks rain and wind and holds warmth underneath.
Anyone who surfs out of season knows the scenario: you come out of the water in the rain, and the problem isn't drying off, it's not getting cold while you change.
Inside it you can take a wetsuit off standing on an open beach — it covers you from both onlookers and the weather.
Who it isn't for. It doesn't absorb: you can't dry yourself with it, so you still need a towel. Waterproof fabric doesn't breathe, and it gets damp underneath from your own heat. And in the heat it's simply stifling — that's what terry and waffle are for.
