A ding isn't cosmetic. Water gets into the core through an open ding, and the board gains weight, loses float and delaminates from the inside. The sooner it's sealed, the less repair it needs later.

For epoxy boards. Match the resin to the board: epoxy will bond to a polyester board, but polyester on an epoxy board simply won't cure to it and will come away in a lump.

Dry the board first: water sealed under resin stays inside and keeps working. And strip the wax — nothing bonds to it.

Who it isn't for. A through hole or a snap is workshop territory. And use the kit that matches your construction: the wrong resin means doing the job twice.
