Hypa is Ocean & Earth's mid-tier cover line, and its distinguishing feature is stamped XP: extra protection on nose, tail and rails. The logic is simple — a board almost never takes a hit in the middle of the deck, it takes them on the edges, and the edges are what's reinforced here.

Cut for a gun — the long, narrow board you take to size. The fit is deliberately compact, because a standard cover leaves a gun rattling around inside, and movement in transit does more damage than impact.

The tail gusset expands and secures shut, so the board travels with fins or without as the trip demands. The manufacturer lists it for both day-to-day runs and overseas travel.

Who it isn't for. A normal shortboard will float around inside — the dimensions are gun-specific. Two boards won't fit. And if you fly regularly with a quiver, look at the multi-board travel covers with 20 mm edges.
