Free Flex is built on two neoprenes: base W1 and the super-stretch Ultra 360. The stretchy one goes where movement is needed, the base one where insulation is. Seams are glued and blindstitched (GBS), so the needle never passes fully through the neoprene and water doesn't wick through the stitching.

Inside, the seams are taped with Water Shield — more critical in a bootie than in a suit, because the foot flexes constantly and plain stitching over the instep gives out first.

The split toe isn't a gimmick. It lets the foot hook the deck and feel the rail, and it takes some load off the arch. In a round-toe bootie the foot stands as if in a felt boot: warm, but blind.

The toe is reinforced — that's what hits rocks on the entry and catches the board's edge. Full height, up the calf, so water doesn't pour in over the top on a duck dive. A heel pull tab lets you drag a wet bootie on without turning it inside out, and two crank straps clamp the cuff — without them a bootie works as a pump, cycling cold water through itself.

Who it isn't for. Too much for warm water: the foot overheats and loses feel, where 3 mm or reef booties belong. On a board with a thin pad, a thick sole dulls control. And size snug: a loose bootie is a colder bootie.
