Description
A full 2 mm neoprene hood. The thickness is a deliberate choice: this isn't an arctic hood, it's a layer for cool water and wind that still lets you turn your head.
The key detail is the raised internal ear panels. An ordinary hood presses on the ear and muffles everything — you stop hearing what's happening around you, which in the water is a safety issue rather than a comfort one. The raised panels leave a cavity in front of the ear and preserve hearing.
Seams are GBS: glued and blindstitched, so the needle never passes fully through the neoprene and water doesn't wick through the stitching. Inside is a Grid Plush lining; outside is smooth skin, which doesn't soak up water and cuts wind chill. The chin cup is shaped, and the flex peak folds under load so it doesn't catch water and drag the hood off your head on a duck dive.
Who it isn't for. Genuinely cold water needs 3–5 mm or a hooded suit. In the tropics it's simply too warm. And if your wetsuit already has an integrated hood, this is redundant.
