Nobile NT5 Split Kiteboard

Split boards are normally built in freeride sizes, where stiffness is easier to manage. The NT5 Split goes the other way: a light-wind board that comes apart. Nothing else on the market does this.

Anyone who has flown gear to the tropics understands the point: a big light-wind board is the most awkward item in the bag and the one that most often won't fit. The NT5 Split packs into a suitcase while remaining a proper light-wind board.

The shape merges the geometry of two earlier Nobile models, the T5 and the NBL. Four sizes — 138×42, 142×43, 146×44 and 150×45 cm — covering light and heavy riders, first rides and confident freeriding alike. W-Connection, fourth generation, patent P403352.

What's inside. A wood core — the maker's position is that nothing beats it: wood is strong, springy, light and damps vibration at once. Over it, an ABS sandwich that transfers power straight to the edges and kills chatter. Fibres are laid triaxially, in three directions: power goes to the rails and the flex comes out even.

APS — added pre-stress. Initial tension is built into the structure during production. The board gets more torsion-resistant and stores energy it releases in a jump — that's the pop. Side benefit: the same strength in a thinner, lighter board.

3D Technology lets flex vary across different areas of the board. Softer landings, more impact resistance, shorter reaction time — while the ride stays forgiving.

Hydrodynamic rocker was drawn from analysis of water movement under the board: instead of a flat centre, a profile matched to the actual flow. Less drag, more speed and acceleration.

Double Trust channels. Deep rectangular channels hold grip in every direction and steady the board mid-manoeuvre. In practice that means shorter fins are enough — and only two on wave boards.

Symmetric contour. Matched edges lengthen the working rail line on toeside — better grip on take-off and landing.

Who it isn't for. Strong wind: above 20 knots a big board turns twitchy and you want a freeride size. And light-wind geometry isn't built for hard freestyle loading.
