The classic mounting point — a cuff on the wrist. Plenty of riders prefer it: the board is literally at hand, so after a wipeout there's nothing to hunt for or reel in. The downside against a bicep leash is that the cuff takes part in every stroke and does get in the way. The upside is that it goes on and off in a second and never has to be threaded under a wetsuit. A 9 mm cord, the standard competition thickness: it takes the shock of a heavy wave without dragging. If you're starting out and unsure which mounting suits you, take the wrist version — it's the more familiar and more forgiving of the two.
