Description

With the Rootz, CrazyFly went back to its roots: twenty years of building carbon twin-tips, applied to a board with a friendlier price. CrazyFly believes it is one of the most affordable full-carbon boards on the market.

Carbon without the harshness. Many carbon boards feel stiff and nervous. The Rootz is full carbon and light, but with a medium flex that stays comfortable in choppy water. The carbon gives you its strongest trait at take-off: a lot of load-and-pop, kicking you higher than you might expect.

Shape. A concave bottom helps the board fly upwind and adds comfort, and Step Cap deck technology allows thinner rails for edging and tracking. Construction includes a CNC-shaped wood core, Fusion sidewalls, invisible inserts, injection-moulded carbon fins and a lost-and-found registration code. Made in CrazyFly's own European factory.

Numbers. 135x40 (2.4 kg), 138x40 (2.5 kg), 140x42 (2.6 kg), 145x44 (2.9 kg). Stiffness 790 to 760 on CrazyFly's 0–1000 scale. Stance 38/42/46 cm, compatible with wake bindings.

Who it is not for. CrazyFly designed it for intermediate and advanced riders. Complete beginners will find the glass-construction Acton softer and easier. Big-air specialists who land hard every session should look at the reinforced Raptor Extreme.

Size. The 145x44 is the easy-planing option for heavier riders and lighter winds; the 135 and 138 suit lighter riders and freestyle. Tell us your weight and we'll suggest one.

K1 instructor's take
“We ride this gear ourselves and teach on it. The main thing is picking the size for your weight and wind: bigger in light wind, smaller when it blows. If you're unsure, message us — we'll put together an honest setup, no upselling.”
